Music Meets Cinema: Giulia Mazzoni Opens the 6th Edition of the FánHuā Chinese Film Festival

On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, the FánHuā Chinese Film Festival will open its 6th edition at Cinema La Compagnia in Florence with a special concert by Giulia Mazzoni, an internationally acclaimed Italian pianist and composer.

Founder of the Nuova Classica movement, Giulia Mazzoni was the first female composer to open the season of an Italian opera institution with her own original music, at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. For over a decade, she has maintained a strong artistic connection with China through concert tours, cultural collaborations, and releases with Sony Music China, fostering musical dialogue between the two countries.

The solo piano concert, featuring her original compositions, is conceived as a musical encounter between Italy and China, highlighting two special tributes to Chinese tradition and culture: Jasmine Flower, a celebrated traditional Chinese melody presented in Mazzoni’s own piano arrangement, and Hao, an original composition inspired by her deep connection with China and dedicated to the dialogue between different cultures.

An opening night celebrating the encounter between music and cinema, marking the beginning of five days dedicated to discovering Chinese cinema and its diverse artistic and cultural expressions.
